Craighouse School UK English Study Trip 2025

Between 22nd August and 13th September, a total of 135 Year 7 pupils from Craighouse School took part in the UK English Study Trip 2025, an unforgettable experience that combined learning, culture, and friendship.

The delegation —the largest so far— was led by Middle Section Head, Pablo Salvador, together with ten teachers, a psychologist and a learning support specialist from the Formative Area, who accompanied and guided our pupils throughout the trip.

As in previous years, the participants attended an intensive English course at Greenwich International Education, complemented by a rich cultural programme. During their stay they explored London, visiting iconic sites such as the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery, the British Museum, London Zoo, Trafalgar Square, and Piccadilly Circus. They also enjoyed the views from the London Eye and went on excursions to the city of Bath and its famous Roman Baths, the ruins of Stonehenge, the universities of Cambridge and Oxford, the impressive Windsor Castle and the city of Bristol.

The group returned on 13th September, safe and sound, having enjoyed an enriching experience that not only strengthened their English learning, but also allowed them to broaden their horizons, discover new cultures, and forge lasting friendships.

 

Craighouse School UK English Study Trip 2025

Entre el 22 de agosto y el 13 de septiembre, un total de 135 alumnos de 7° Básico de Craighouse School participaron en el UK English Study Trip 2025, una experiencia inolvidable que combinó aprendizaje, cultura y compañerismo.

La delegación —la más numerosa hasta ahora— estuvo encabezada por el director de Middle Section, Pablo Salvador, junto a diez profesores, una psicóloga y una psicopedagoga del Área Formativa, quienes acompañaron y guiaron a nuestros alumnos durante toda la gira.

Como en años anteriores, los participantes realizaron un curso intensivo de inglés en Greenwich International Education, que se complementó con un variado programa cultural. Durante su estadía exploraron Londres, visitando lugares icónicos como el Museo de Historia Natural, la National Gallery, el Museo Británico, el Zoológico de Londres, Trafalgar Square y Piccadilly Circus. También disfrutaron de las vistas desde el London Eye y realizaron excursiones a la ciudad de Bath y sus famosos Baños Romanos, las ruinas de Stonehenge, las universidades de Cambridge y Oxford, el imponente Castillo de Windsor y la ciudad de Bristol.

El grupo regresó el 13 de septiembre, sano y salvo, tras haber vivido una experiencia enriquecedora que no sólo fortaleció su aprendizaje del inglés, sino que también les permitió ampliar horizontes, conocer nuevas culturas y forjar amistades duraderas.

 

Craighouse School celebrates cultural diversity with “International Week 2025”

 

From Monday 29th September to Friday 3rd October, the Primary Section, together with an enthusiastic group of parents, organised International Week 2025, a wonderful occasion that celebrated the richness of cultures and nationalities that make up our Craighouse community.

The activities began with parents visiting classrooms to share their experiences and knowledge about their countries of origin. On Wednesday 1st October, the International Day Celebration took place, during which our international pupils wore outfits representing their countries, while Chilean pupils were able to dress in traditional Chilean attire.

The highlight of the week was the International Fair 2025, held on Thursday 2nd October, with the participation of 25 countries. For the first time, Chile and Puerto Rico joined the fair, further enriching the event with their culture, traditions, and flavours.

We sincerely thank all the parents who made this great initiative possible, which helps instil in our pupils the value of diversity and respect for different cultures.

 

Craighouse School celebra la diversidad cultural con el "International Week 2025" 

Desde el lunes 29 de septiembre y hasta el 3 de octubre, la Sección Primary, junto a un entusiasta grupo de apoderados, organizó la Semana Internacional 2025, una maravillosa instancia que celebró la riqueza de culturas y nacionalidades que conforman nuestra comunidad Craighouse.

Las actividades comenzaron con la participación de apoderados en las salas de clases, quienes compartieron con los alumnos sus experiencias y conocimientos sobre sus países de origen. El miércoles 1 de octubre se llevó a cabo la Celebración del Día Internacional, ocasión en la que nuestros alumnos extranjeros vistieron atuendos representativos de sus países, mientras que los alumnos chilenos pudieron lucir trajes típicos nacionales.

El punto culminante fue la Feria Internacional 2025, realizada el jueves 2 de octubre, en la que participaron 25 países. Por primera vez se sumaron Francia, Puerto Rico y Chile, enriqueciendo aún más la muestra con su cultura, tradiciones y sabores. Agradecemos sinceramente a todos los apoderados que hicieron posible esta gran iniciativa, que refuerza en nuestros alumnos el valor de la diversidad y el respeto por las distintas culturas. 

 

A milestone in sportsmanship: 50 years of John Jackson XV and 10 years of Joan Darling XI

 

On Wednesday 1st October 2025, the sports fields of The Grange School hosted two hallmark fixtures on the British schools in Chile calendar: the Joan Darling XI hockey tournament (10th anniversary) and the John Jackson XV rugby match (50th anniversary), a true milestone in sportsmanship, shared tradition and fellowship.

In hockey, a combined side of eighteen players — six from St Margaret’s School, six from The Grange School, and six from Craighouse School — embodied fair play and cooperation in a match against the Joan Darling XI 2024, characterised by camaraderie and respect. Craighouse representatives: Florencia García Cortés, Amelia Marín, Luciana Pilasi, Sofía Rencoret, Trinidad Rovira, and Fernanda Zahr.

In rugby, the John Jackson XV 2025 brought together pupils from Craighouse School, The Grange School, and The Mackay School, who faced the ARUSA selection.

Craighouse representatives: Santiago Cabargas, Manuel Escandón, Juan Naranjo, Pedro Pichara, Lucas Radrigán, Pedro Radrigán, Cristóbal Soto, and Agustín Vivanco.

Un hito en espíritu deportivo: 50 años de John Jackson XV y 10 años de Joan Darling XI

El miércoles 1 de octubre de 2025, las canchas deportivas de The Grange School fueron escenario de dos encuentros emblemáticos del calendario de los colegios británicos en Chile: El torneo de hockey Joan Darling XI (10º aniversario) y el partido de rugby John Jackson XV (50º aniversario), un verdadero hito de deportividad, tradición compartida y camaradería.

En hockey, un equipo combinado de dieciocho jugadoras —seis de St Margaret’s School, seis de The Grange School y seis de Craighouse School— representó el juego limpio y la cooperación en un partido frente al Joan Darling XI 2024, marcado por la camaradería y el respeto. Representantes de Craighouse: Florencia García Cortés, Amelia Marín, Luciana Pilasi, Sofía Rencoret, Trinidad Rovira y Fernanda Zahr.

En rugby, el John Jackson XV 2025 reunió a alumnos de Craighouse School, The Grange School y The Mackay School, quienes se enfrentaron a la selección de ARUSA. Craighouse celebrates achievements in the 2025 IB Diploma

 

On Friday 3rd October, a ceremony was held to recognise the Year 12 pupils for their academic achievements in the IB Diploma Certificate 2025.

This year, 90 pupils from Craighouse School’s 2025 Generation obtained their IB Diploma, the highest number ever recorded in our school’s history. 73% of Year 12 pupils were Diploma candidates, and of these, 94% were successful. Overall, the school achieved an average of 30.7 points, thereby consolidating our commitment to excellence in education and to international standards.

We especially congratulate those who achieved the highest scores: Elisa Sofía Martinic Zambrano, Marcela Margarita Burger Visconti, Florencia Sofía García Rodríguez, Javiera Mora Perrot, María Victoria De Amesti Fuentes, Aintzane Irantzu Fernández García, and Angela Magnani Fuica.

We also extend our congratulations to all the pupils who obtained their IB Diploma, as well as to those who received IB Diploma Programme English certificates and all others who participated in the Diploma process.

 

Craighouse celebra los logros en el IB Diploma Certificate 2025

 

El viernes 3 de octubre se llevó a cabo una ceremonia en la que se reconoció a los alumnos de IV Medio por sus logros académicos en el IB Diploma Certificate 2025.

Este año, 90 alumnos de la Generación 2025 de Craighouse School obtuvieron su Diploma IB, la cifra más alta registrada en la historia de nuestro colegio. El 73% de los alumnos de IV Medio fueron candidatos al Diploma y, de ellos, un 94% lo obtuvo con éxito. En términos generales, el colegio alcanzó un promedio de 30,7 puntos, consolidando así nuestro compromiso con una educación de excelencia y con estándares internacionales.

Felicitamos especialmente a quienes obtuvieron los mejores puntajes: Elisa Sofía Martinic Zambrano, Marcela Margarita Burger Visconti, Florencia Sofía García Rodríguez, Javiera Mora Perrot, María Victoria De Amesti Fuentes, Aintzane Irantzu Fernández García y Angela Magnani Fuica.

Asimismo, extendemos nuestras felicitaciones a todos los alumnos que obtuvieron su Diploma IB, así como a quienes recibieron certificados en Inglés del Programa del Diploma del IB y a todos quienes participaron en el proceso del Diploma.

 

A new interactive format for the 2025 Academic Meeting

With record parent participation, the 2025 Academic Meeting was consolidated as a key space to learn how our pupils learn and to review the academic results for the 2024–2025 school year.

On the occasion, the Head of School, Mr Patrick Lyons, the Academic Director, Aymé Visconti, and the Academic Coordinators of the three sections, lead an interactive workshop to inform and educate parents on the constructivist philosophy of our IB programmes and educational project. Subsequently Mrs Visconti presented the school’s performance in the external assessments IB, PAES, SIMCE and SEPA, together with the main pedagogical guidelines that inform classroom practice.

The event took place on Thursday, 25th September at 8:30 a.m., in the Middle/Senior Dining Hall. We thank all the families for their commitment and active participation in this important gathering.

 

Un nuevo formato interactivo para la Reunión Académica 2025

Con una participación récord de apoderados, la Reunión Académica 2025 se consolidó como un espacio clave para conocer cómo aprenden nuestros alumnos y revisar los resultados académicos del año escolar 2024–2025.

En esta ocasión, el Rector, Mr Patrick Lyons; la Directora Académica, Aymé Visconti, y los Coordinadores Académicos de las tres secciones lideraron un taller interactivo para informar y orientar a los padres sobre la filosofía constructivista de nuestros programas IB y de nuestro proyecto educativo. Posteriormente, la Sra. Visconti presentó el desempeño del colegio en las evaluaciones externas IB, PAES, SIMCE y SEPA, junto con los principales lineamientos pedagógicos que orientan la práctica en la sala de clases. 

La actividad se realizó el jueves 25 de septiembre, a las 8:30 horas, en el Comedor de Middle/Senior. Agradecemos a todas las familias por su compromiso y activa participación en este importante encuentro.

 

Year 5 Catholic pupils receive their First Holy Communion

 

On Saturday 4th October, 120 Year 5 pupils received the sacrament of First Holy Communion in two moving Eucharistic celebrations — at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. — held at the Parroquia María Madre de Misericordia in Lo Barnechea.

Accompanied by their families and the school community, the pupils took part reverently and with joy in this milestone of faith. We extend our thanks to the parish and to everyone who contributed to the preparation and organisation of the ceremony.

 

Alumnos católicos de 5° Básico reciben su Primera Comunión 

El sábado 4 de octubre, 120 alumnos de 5° Básico recibieron el sacramento de la Primera Comunión en dos emotivas celebraciones eucarísticas —a las 9:00 y 11:00 horas— realizadas en la Parroquia María Madre de Misericordia, Lo Barnechea.

Acompañados por sus familias y la comunidad escolar, los alumnos participaron con recogimiento y alegría de este hito de fe. Agradecemos a la parroquia y a todos quienes colaboraron en la preparación y organización de la ceremonia.

 

 Six pupils represent Craighouse at the Round Square International Conference in Dubai 

 

Six Year 10 and Year 11 pupils — Matilde Amenábar, Iskandar Buale, Matilde Gerszencvich, Victoria Hurtado, Agustín Pineda and Marcelo Prado — had the honour of representing Craighouse School and Chile at the Round Square International Conference, held in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) between 17th and 30th September. The delegation was accompanied by Miss Ana María Cabrera and Mr Mark Cross.

Throughout the conference, our delegates took part in a wide range of activities, including the opening ceremony, cultural exchanges, adventure excursions, environmental projects, and community service days. Their participation not only reflects our pupils’ talent and commitment, but also showcases the values and student profile we promote at Craighouse School, proudly representing our community on the international stage.

 

Seis alumnos representan a Craighouse en la Conferencia Internacional de Round Square en Dubai

Seis alumnos de II y III Medio —Matilde Amenábar, Iskandar Buale, Matilde Gerszencvich, Victoria Hurtado, Agustín Pineda y Marcelo Prado— tuvieron el orgullo de representar a Craighouse School y a Chile en la Conferencia Internacional de Round Square, realizada en Dubai (Emiratos Árabes) entre el 17 y el 30 de septiembre. La delegación fue acompañada por Miss Ana María Cabrera y Mr Mark Cross. 

A lo largo de la conferencia, nuestros delegados participaron en una amplia variedad de actividades: Ceremonia inaugural, intercambios culturales, excursiones de aventura, proyectos medioambientales y jornadas de servicio comunitario. La participación de nuestros alumnos no solo refleja su talento y compromiso, sino que también proyecta los valores y el perfil de alumno que promovemos en Craighouse School, representando con orgullo a nuestra comunidad en un escenario internacional.
